From 9 to 16 November, join the City of Canning in celebrating WA Seniors Week in style, with a range of exciting free events and activities.
Acknowledging the City’s Age Friendly Plan 2024 – 2026, Seniors Week promotes the celebration and recognition of older adults within the City of Canning, creating a positive image of ageing and promoting intergenerational and intercultural understanding and respect within the community.

Seniors Week program
The free events during Seniors Week include free entry to the City’s Cannington and Riverton Leisureplexes when seniors present their WA Seniors Card.
Other events include arts and crafts, a laughter club, a sing-along concert, Tai Chi, and so much more!
WA Seniors Week is a yearly event aimed at recognising and celebrating the valuable contributions older people make to the Western Australian community. It also highlights seniors’ active involvement in community life.
This Seniors Week, we encourage all seniors to participate and enjoy these events throughout the week.

Free entry to the Leisureplexes
Are you curious about joining City of Canning Leisureplexes? Residents who don’t yet have membership are encouraged to try free classes, have a gym workout, or spend the day relaxing at the pool. A valid WA Seniors Card must be shown upon entry.

Westfield Walkers

Try Tai Chi and Chai Tea

The Amazing Honey Bee

Embrace the Art of Wellbeing – A Morning of Connection and Culture on Country
Come together for a mindful and inspiring experience on Country. Gillian King, respected local Aboriginal leader, will guide a session on flower healing and the cultural significance of native blooms, including a hands-on flower pressing activity that supports mental wellbeing.
Grace King, Valued Lives Resident Artist and Multi-disciplinary Spiritual Practitioner, will offer a soulful wellness workshop combining sound healing and essential oils, designed to promote inner calm and creative expression.
Healthy refreshments will be provided after the sessions, offering time to chat, share stories, and build new connections.

WA Seniors Card benefits
Enjoy exclusive offers and discounts all year round with a WA Seniors Card. If you would like to apply or need a replacement card, visit the WA Seniors Card website.
Senior, Pensioner and Veteran Gold card holders are entitled to a 50% discount on the standard TransWA fare. This discount is also available to interstate travellers with a state-issued Seniors or Pensioner Concession Card.
Western Australian pensioners and veterans are also entitled to up to four free trips every year (subject to eligibility and registration).
As a WA Seniors Card member, you receive a Seniors SmartRider automatically, offering free travel on weekdays from 9am to 3.30pm and after 7pm, as well as all day on weekends and public holidays.
Canning Age Friendly Plan
The City’s first Age Friendly Plan introduces the concepts of an age friendly community, with a set of identified actions for completion over a two-year time frame, from 2024 to 2026.
