Investing in the future of essential services

The City of Canning has welcomed five new Volvo FE280 24 cubic metre Superior Pak Raptor side loader trucks to its waste fleet, replacing five vehicles that have recently been decommissioned.

Asset renewal plays a vital role in ensuring we continue to deliver reliable, efficient and sustainable services to the community. This is especially important for waste management, one of the City's most essential frontline services.

The new trucks offer a range of benefits, including improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, quieter operation, reduced maintenance costs and advanced hydraulic lifting technology.

They also provide a safer and more comfortable working environment for our drivers, who spend many hours behind the wheel serving our community every day.

City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall said investing in the City’s essential services is vital to ensure residents continue to receive reliable, high-quality services.

“With a total cost of $2.7 million, this is a significant investment for the City, but it is an important one that will support the delivery of essential services for years to come.

“Not only are these trucks a practical investment in our waste collection service, they’re also a moving showcase of our City. Featuring some of Canning’s most iconic destinations, they’re a great way to celebrate the places that make our community unique,” Mayor Hall said.

The decommissioned trucks will be sold, enabling their reuse elsewhere in the sector and extending their service life. Proceeds from the sale will help offset the cost of the new trucks.
