Community Partnerships Program
A group of people with the Welcoming Canning Bus Tour.

The Community Partnerships Program supports local community groups to deliver new projects that benefit the Canning community.

The Community Partnerships Program provides capacity building support to community groups who want to develop their skills, knowledge and/or experience in project and event management. Examples of capacity building support include:

  • project planning and evaluation
  • budgeting
  • understanding how local government approvals work
  • marketing and promotion
  • connecting with the community and other community groups.

The program also provides financial support up to $5,000 towards the project or event. If your just seeking financial support for your project, and not capacity building, please apply for a grant through the Community Grants Program

The City’s Community Development Officer will work with the group to:

  • discuss the project concept and refine further if required
  • determine what the partnership arrangement will look like
  • map out the project timeframes
  • develop a project plan
  • develop a promotional plan
  • develop a budget.

To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:

  • projects must be delivered in the City of Canning
  • demonstrate a clear community benefit and value for money
  • have a clear need for capacity building support
  • projects and events must be delivered between 1 May 2025 and 30 April 2026.

The City will consider all expressions of interest and contact all applicants notifying the outcome of their application by 11 April 2025.

Examples of past successful Community Partnership Program projects include:

  • New City Theatre hosted a free outdoor theatre performance of ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
  • Formation of a Multicultural Women’s Group at Hillview Intercultural Community Centre.
  • Delivery of a Welcoming Canning Bus Tour.

Please contact the Coordinator Community Capacity on 0481 459 081 or ben.armstrong@canning.wa.gov.au to discuss further or learn more.
