Your child's first experience at our crèche is important to us, and we want to ensure it's a positive and comfortable one for both you and your child.

If your child hasn't been in a care setting independently before, or has only been with family or friends, we understand how overwhelming attending crèche can feel for both parents and child.

To help ease this transition, we highly recommend starting with a minimum of 2 short visits, each lasting 30 minutes. This will give your child the chance to become acquainted with our caring crèche staff and the new environment. Following these initial visits, we can gradually extend the duration of your child's stay, up to a maximum of 2 hours, as they grow more comfortable and confident.

Our dedicated team is here to support you and your child every step of the way, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable transition into our crèche program.

To help your child settle in during each visit:

  • Talk to crèche staff about your child’s current routines (sleep, toilet, comfort strategies).
  • Support a smooth start by:
    • calmly saying goodbye
    • telling your child where you are going
    • letting them know when you will return.
  • Be available to return to the crèche if your child experiences distress, has difficulty settling, becomes unwell, or needs assistance during their session.

Babies and toddlers who need a nap are first settled in their own pram. Once asleep, staff move them to a quiet area where they remain visible and supervised. Staff regularly check on sleeping children and record their sleep times, which are shared with parents or guardians at pick-up.

For children who need quiet time, we provide comfortable cushions and fold-out couches where they can relax and unwind.

Parents / guardians are required to supply nappies, wipes, and spare clothing for their children.

Children's nappies must be clean upon arrival at the crèche. If a child arrives with a soiled or full nappy, it must be changed by the parents or guardians before leaving the crèche.

Parents / guardians are also asked to ensure that children use the toilet upon entering the crèche.

Nappy and toileting checks are conducted frequently throughout the children’s stay in the crèche to ensure their comfort and well-being.

Sunscreen Application

Please apply sunscreen to your child/children before arriving for their session. Our staff are unable to apply it due to potential allergies.

Hats

Parent / guardians are to provide a hat for their child / children for outdoor play. Preferred styles include legionnaire, broad-brimmed, or bucket hats.

Indoor Play

If a hat is not provided, your child will stay indoors and engage in activities with staff members.

We also monitor UV levels to decide the safest times for outdoor play. When the UV rating is high, we will limit outdoor activities to protect the children from harmful sun exposure.

Special Crèche Crafts

Our special crèche crafts run monthly, with a week-long theme of fun and engaging craft activities for the children.

School Holiday Crafts

During each school holiday, we run craft and sensory activities designed to stimulate creativity and play. These activities are run in conjunction with our Cannington Leisureplex school holiday promotions.
