Lifelong Learning for All

Our mission is to improve lives, encourage learning, and create safe spaces and connections through various lifelong learning opportunities. Our programs are free and accessible to everyone in the Canning community.

Programs are available across five locations:

Programs are divided into Learning pillars and planned in two-month blocks, aligning with the Noongar seasons.

Each season focuses on specific themes to cater to our community's diverse needs.

Adults and Seniors

Objective: To provide a range of experiences to help the community build confidence in using technology.

  • Computer literacy 
  • AI and ChatGPT sessions

Objective: To provide learning journeys for self-improvement and self-development.

  • Financial literacy
  • Nutrition workshops

  • Sewing and Crafting Series
  • Home organisation
  • Cooking skills and demonstration

Objective: To provide various opportunities to foster a sense of belonging and build a connection to space and each other through social, creative and cultural experiences.

  • Noongar Language and Cultural Class for adults
  • Indigenous Sneakers Lab
  • Noongar Language Storytelling sessions for children

Free online course

Offered through Curtin University, this is a FREE, self-paced course that runs over six weeks. You will learn a range of conversational Noongar words and phrases, how to incorporate and use Noongar words in basic conversational sentences, Noongar culture and identity, and cultural knowledge, including bush medicines and foods.

Children, Young People and Families

Objective: To empower families in building essential literacy and language skills at an early age through a suite of early years programs

Outreach with Canning on the Go Van

The City of Canning is partnering with community groups and organisations to take learning to where it's needed most using our Canning on the Go Van.
